TECHNICIAN LEVEL FRAMEWORK

The Technician Level Framework (TLF) is a professional development framework for pharmacy technicians in Medicines Management. It follows the format of the General Level Framework (GLF) for junior pharmacists.

The TLF has been developed by a group of pharmacy technicians who are either Medicines Management Technicians (MMTs), managers of a MMT service, educationalists in Trusts, or delivering MMT training. For more background information see this presentation made by Ms. Jane Hough (Pharmacy Clinical Services Manager at John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford) to the Association of Pharmacy Technicians UK (APTUK) conference in November 2007.

INVITATION TO PARTICIPATE IN PILOT OF TLF

The TLF will be launched at a meeting in London on Wednesday 16th January. Trusts and PCTs have been invited to participate in a pilot of the TLF; it is hoped that a range of Trusts and PCTs with varying levels of service will be involved in order to see whether the TLF is suitable for all. The pilot will run for most of 2008.

In order to participate in the pilot Trusts/PCTs must be able to attend the launch day on 16th January but they will be under no obligation to continue should they feel that their Trust/PCT is not suitable for the pilot. Click here for an outline of the pilot phase.

To find out more about the TLF please contact Ms. Jane Hough, Pharmacy Clinical Services Manager at John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford on Tel: 01865 221504.
